There is an entire street famous for shopping and sighseeing, called Vaci Utca. To go there get out at the Vorosmarty Ter station, on the yellow subway line. You can buy virtually anything there, but it's worth going if you are looking especially for souvenirs. Apart from the stores, you can explore the many pubs and cafes, very nice looking and full of distinct personality.
