The Catedral Cafe is located on Vaci street, on one of the bridges across the Danube in the downtown area, . Apart from a cafe, it is also a live music venue and also a restaurant, where you can enjoy some basic Hungarian fare. Shows usually begin at about 7PM. The music is not great (not bad either), but the place is relaxing and I think you'll like it.
